Although he currently holds a position as Manager of Program Operations at the University of Washington Center for Technology and Disability Studies, he spent his early professional years working with endangered species, including Piping Plover, Bald Eagle, Spotted Owl, and Marbled Murrelet. In his spare time, Alan enjoys teaching classes on diverse topics for the Seattle Audubon Society, traveling near and far in pursuit of birds both new and familiar, and guiding other birders from around the globe to favorite haunts in Washington state. His major interests include taxonomy and evolution, biogeography, paleontology, and advanced bird identification issues. Additionally, he enjoys the fine arts, in particular print-making, drawing, and design. Alan lives in Seattle, Washington with his partner Rob, two dogs, and one indoor cat. |
