INSTITUTE FOR FIELD ORNITHOLOGY
To download a copy of the pdf file to a local hard disk, right-click on the link and select 'Save Target As' (Internet Explorer) or 'Save Link As' (Netscape Navigator). ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER AND RELEASE Please note: All IFO participants are required to sign an Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release, and Indemnity (Release) form. One Release form is valid for all IFO workshops. If you have not signed a Release form in the past, it will be mailed to you or you can download a printable PDF version. When registering by phone or online, you must mail in the original, signed Release Form. You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed to read, save, or print the Printable Registration Form and Waiver. DEPOSITS: Upon registration we require a $200 deposit ($125 Deposit plus a non-refundable $75 Administrative Fee) for each workshop. We will confirm your space in the workshop once we have received the required deposit. PAYMENT: ABA must receive full payment for the workshop including any optional costs (e.g., single room supplement) no later than 70 days prior to the start of the workshop. Participants who have not made full payment by this date will forfeit their space in the workshop as well as their deposit. Participants registering within 70 days prior to the first day of the workshop must make payment in full with registration. CANCELLATION/REFUNDS: Cancellations must be received in writing. The ABA will make full refunds, less the $75 Administrative Fee, for cancellations received 80 days or more prior to the first day of the workshop. If cancellation is received between 80 and 60 days prior, deposit is not refundable, but any payments covering the fee balances will be returned. If cancellation is received less than 60 days prior to the first day of the workshop, NO refunds will be made. The ABA reserves the right to cancel any workshop for which we have insufficient reservations. If the ABA cancels an IFO workshop, we will fully refund your deposit and other payments. Trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended to protect you from losses. INFORMATION: Detailed course information is provided upon confirmed registration, including directions, equipment and clothing list, recommended reading list, tentative schedule, and transportation details. The ABA maintains a waiting list for each of its IFO workshops no deposit is required to be placed on the list. Workshop openings are filled in chronological order from the waiting list. If an opening becomes available, you will be contacted and offered the option of attending the workshop but you are under no obligation to accept. If you want to register for the workshop, and it is more than 70 days prior to the first day of the workshop, you will need to remit the $200 deposit (described above) immediately. If a space becomes available less than 70 days prior to the start of the workshop, payment in full is required. LODGING AND MEALS: Some or all meals and lodging may be included in the price of a workshop. The ABA will make every effort to provide a roommate for those requesting one, but if we are unable to find one for you, the single room supplement will be assessed. Not all workshop locations will have single room options available. Please see individual workshop descriptions for details. INSURANCE AND LIABILITY: Participants must provide their own health and accident insurance. Please read and sign the Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release and Indemnity Form, and the Registration Form. We strongly advise you to speak to your travel agent about trip cancellation insurance (including medical emergency) prior to registering. This is especially important to prevent losses due to injury or illness to you or an immediate family member before or during the workshop. CERTIFICATION OF ACHIEVEMENT: Upon completion of an IFO workshop, you will be given a certificate of achievement, signed by the instructor. At this time, we do not offer college credits for IFO workshops. PHYSICAL CONDITION: It is important that you accurately evaluate your own physical fitness. Please read each workshop description carefully and ask in advance if you have any questions about physical requirements. If you have a health problem or physical limitation that may hamper or restrict your full involvement in any aspect of the workshop, contact your physician and please advise us in detail and in writing at the time you make a deposit to hold your space in the workshop.
