Wildlife Refuges / Reserves / Parks (US/Canada)
- National Wildlife Refuges: Brochures A search area providing access to the Refuge System database which contains such info as name, address, phone/fax numbers, email/website addresses, description and other general information, brochures, species lists.
- National Wildlife Refuges: Index An assemblage of a wide range of information that relates to the management of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
- Northern Prairie Science Center Checklists Comprehensive source of more than 300 local bird checklists.
- Alberta: Banff National Park Located in the Canadian Rocky Mountains about 80 miles west of Calgary. Website has wealth of information about the park, directions, visitors' services, facilities.
- California: Palo Alto Baylands Preserve A 1700 acre nature preserve comprised almost entirely of salt marsh and tidal wetlands. The preserve is also a popular stopover on the Pacific flyway. More than 150 bird species can be observed here.
- California: Elkhorn Slough One of California's largest and last remaining coastal wetlands, located right off Highway 1, midway between Monterey and Santa Cruz, at the mouth to the Monterey Bay Canyon. The slough provides a haven for a tremendous variety of plants and animals, including several vanishing species.
- California: Kern River Preserve, a National Natural Landmark located 57 miles NE of Bakersfield. 332 bird species have been recorded and 299 species nest here including major breeding populations of Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Summer Tanager, and Willow Flycatcher. Audubon-California is engaged in a habitat enhancement program to benefit nesting wetland species.
- Florida: Canaveral National Seashore 57,000 acres near Titusville, with the longest stretch (24 miles) of undeveloped beach on Florida's east coast with limited services - there are no designated picnic areas, food services, beach showers.
- Florida: The Great Florida Birding Trail is sponsored by the Florida DEP, Florida DOT, Audubon Society, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission. The Citrus County Section, is the first online site of all Florida Counties. Other counties will be added as the site is developed for the rest of the State.
- Florida: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge 140,000 acres on the John F. Kennedy Space Center, east of Titusville. Approximately one half consists of brackish estuaries and marshes. The rest, coastal dunes, scrub oaks, pine forests and flatwoods, and palm and oak hammocks.
- Minnesota: Wetlands, Pines and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary is an 800-acre wildlife refuge and environmental education center in northwestern Minnesota.
